About

About Caryn:

Caryn is a 20 something blogger whose life came alive when she started this blog. She is an international volunteer, amateur-photographer, world traveler, dreamer and a realist, a community manager, a social media enthusiast, IU alumna, and animal lover. She believes in equal rights for all and is passionate about protecting nature and wildlife for our future generations. No matter what she is doing, her one goal is that someone she is helping making a difference. Even as early as 11 years old, she knew her dream job was to make this world a better place.

She is a firm believer that honesty is the best policy and in treating everyone with respect, regardless if they are a friend or a foe. As an optimist, Caryn tries to find the good in people and the positive in situations and believes that life is what you make of it. She has reached a point in her life where she only wants surround herself with people who make her happy, laugh and who inspire her.

She is on a path towards self-fullfillment and making dreams actually a reality. She already accomplished her dream of volunteering abroad, starting her own organization that gives back to charities, and living in a new city. She prefers whiskey over cosmos and thinks hockey is better live, football is better on TV, and that college basketball is more entertaining than NBA.  She has a very eclectic music catalog on her iPod, loves trivia (although admittedly not as quick on the draw as she could be), and was that kid who always asked questions to know why and how things worked. Some things haven’t changed. She is very organized and type A on many things. She insists on making the bed every morning.

Where she has lived:

She grew up in a suburb of Chicago but moved to DC in February 2013 on a gut feeling that she needed new adventures and change.  She graduated with a degree in Journalism from Indiana University and spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy.  There, she learned to appreciate art history, delicious food, foreign cultures, and realized her passion for traveling. She backpacked through Europe for four weeks in Spring 2006 and spent a month in Africa volunteering and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in October 2012.

What she does:

She loves planning events, networking, building relationships and giving back to the community.
